Pakistani Army Chie meets Araghchi in Tehran to advance diplomatic initiatives

Chief of the Pakistani Army Field Marshal Asim Munir, who has traveled to Tehran for consultations with Iranian officials, met Friday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to advance diplomatic initiatives.

The meeting took place on Friday and continued late into the night.

The two sides exchanged views on the latest diplomatic efforts and initiatives to prevent further escalation and end the US and Israeli aggression against Iran, as well as strategies to strengthen peace, stability, and security in the West Asia region.

The Pakistani Army's Public Relations Department announced Munir's arrival in Tehran in a brief statement on Friday evening.

The Pakistani Army chief and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by Eskandar Momeni, Iran's Minister of Interior. Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan's Minister of Interior, was also present at the welcoming ceremony.

The Pakistani Army described the purpose of Munir's visit as part of ongoing mediation efforts.

On February 28, the United States and Israel initiated an unprovoked war against Iran with the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military commanders.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces carried out 100 waves of counterattacks over 40 days, targeting US and Israeli military assets, which resulted in significant damage.
