Israeli Incursions into Southern Syria Continue

Syrian sources have reported the continued incursions by Israeli forces into areas of southern Syria.

According to IRNA, citing Al Mayadeen TV, local Syrian sources said that an Israeli military patrol entered the village of Bariqa in the central countryside of Quneitra Province.

The report stated that after entering the village, Israeli forces established a checkpoint and began inspecting passersby.

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government in Syria in December 2024, Israel has taken advantage of the country's security vacuum by carrying out airstrikes on major military installations and warplanes, while also advancing into parts of Quneitra Province in southern Syria.

Israel has also occupied areas in southern Syria, including the strategic Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh).

After Quneitra, Daraa Province ranks second in the number of reported Israeli violations, with 32 recorded incidents. However, the nature of these incursions in Daraa has been considered more dangerous, involving artillery shelling, ground incursions, and intensive fighter jet overflights.

In addition, the airspace over the outskirts of Damascus and As-Suwayda has reportedly been violated on several occasions.
