The session will be held on the theme of "Islamic Unity in the Thought of the Martyr Imam, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei (Quds Allah Nafs Al-Zakiyyah)".
Following the announcement of Unity Week by the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (Quds Al-Sar), and based on the strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in strengthening Islamic unity among Muslims, the decision to hold the International Conference on Islamic Unity was made by the trustees and officials of the matter. Since 1369, the Islamic Propaganda Organization has been in charge of holding four sessions of this conference, but after the establishment of the World Assembly for the Proximity of Islamic Denominations, which was carried out by the order of the Supreme Leader (may Allah preserve him) and its mission of approximation, the implementation of this important matter was entrusted to the Assembly.
The purpose of holding the International Conference on Islamic Unity is to create unity and solidarity among Muslims, to bring scholars and scientists together to approximate their scientific and cultural views, and to examine and present practical solutions to achieve Islamic unity and form a unified nation in the Islamic world, to solve the problems and difficulties of Muslims, and to present appropriate solutions in this regard.
The guests of the International Conference on Unity are selected from among educated figures, scholars and muftis, and political figures of Islamic countries, university professors, and other scientific and cultural associations inside and outside the country. So far, hundreds of thinkers, scholars, intellectuals, and cultural, social, and political activists from all over the world, and a large number of Shiite and Sunni scholars and thinkers from different regions of the country, have participated in this conference and have presented articles, speeches, and expressed their views.
