70% of the victims of Israel's genocide in Gaza are children and women

The United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) says that women and children account for about 70 percent of those killed in the Gaza Strip during Israel's genocidal operations in the besieged Palestinian territories.

The office published the figures in a 32-page report covering the six months from November 2023 to April 2024.

According to this report, about 80% of the victims were killed in residential buildings, of which 44% were children and 26% were women.

Most of the confirmed deaths in Gaza were children between the ages of 5 and 9.

The report states that the youngest victim whose death was confirmed by UN observers was a one-day-old boy and the oldest was a 97-year-old woman.

Based on the report of Press TV, The UN statement said Israel's continued attacks "demonstrate a clear indifference to civilian deaths and the impact of its chosen tools and methods of warfare."

The report states: "In its series of orders on provisional measures, the International Court of Justice emphasized Israel's international obligations to prevent, protect and punish acts of genocide and related prohibited conduct."

Volker Turk, the head of the United Nations Human Rights, emphasized the need for full and immediate implementation of these obligations by Israel.

UN human rights chief Volker Turk called this action a "systematic violation of basic principles of international humanitarian law."

Turk stated: Considering the accusations of serious violation of international laws, it is necessary to carry out necessary investigations through reliable and impartial judicial authorities, and in the meantime, all relevant information and documents should be collected and preserved.

On May 24, the ICJ ordered Israel to stop its aggression in Rafah, establish humanitarian corridors and allow the World Organization to investigate the genocide.

Israel continues its genocidal attacks on Gaza, killing more and more Palestinians in its airstrikes and artillery.

The latest airstrikes targeted Gaza City and Nasirt refugee camp, leaving six dead.

According to Gaza authorities, about 22 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Friday alone.

In this way, the number of Palestinian victims in Gaza reached 43,500 people since the beginning of October last year. Most of the victims are women and children.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has warned about the deterioration of the situation in northern Gaza.

The Israeli military is preventing food and water from reaching the besieged area, where thousands of Palestinians are trapped and need supplies to survive, the statement said.
