Iraq's prime minister has criticized the US-led coalition forces for their delay in providing the Iraqi army with support and training to fight the ISIL terrorists.
According to Press TV, Haidar al-Abadi on Monday said that the US-led forces had been too slow in the fight against the ISIL.
Abadi, who was speaking to reporters after a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, called for the “acceleration” of the assistance provided to the Iraqi military.
The ISIL Takfiri terrorists have taken control of large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria since last year. The Iraqi army, backed by pro-government tribes, Shiite volunteers and Kurdish Peshmerga, has so far managed to make significant gains in the fight against the terrorists.
The US-led international coalition has been conducting air raids against ISIL positions in both countries.
However, many have already criticized the coalition strikes as being ineffective.
