At least three people have been killed in an anti-government protest rally in the Egyptian capital city Cairo.
According to reports on Monday, a septuagenarian woman was killed in Helwan district of Cairo while clashes with security forces claimed the lives of two other protesters separately.
Twenty people, mostly demonstrators, were killed on Sunday when protesters marking the fourth anniversary of Egypt’s 2011 revolution clashed with security forces during rallies against the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Egyptian officials said over 500 supporters of outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, which called Sunday protest rallies, were arrested.
Supporters of toppled dictator Husni Mubarak's successor, Mohamed Morsi, have staged numerous rallies since he was ousted by then army chief Sisi in 2013. They have been subjected to a heavy-handed crackdown by the Egyptian military-backed government.
Monday’s protest came after Mubarak’s sons, Alaa and Gamal, were freed from Torah Prison in a Cairo suburb.
