Rapprochement favors the whole Islamic Ummah

“The new stance taken by the Egyptian Islamic scholar, SheikhYusuf al-Qaradawi in the area of rapprochement among denominations indicates Muslims Brotherhood and Wahhabism have had their stamp on him,” pointed out Sunni Imam of Al-Quds Mosque in Sidon (Lebanon), Sheikh Maher Hammoud in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

“SheikhYusuf al-Qaradawi were of people who are open to talk and dialogue,” said the religious cleric stressing the religious elite associated with the Muslim Brotherhood is well educated, penned and compiled various works.

“Unfortunately since 2006, it has been proven he had taken stance running counter to his previous takes,” said Sheikh Maher Hammoud highlighting the Egyptian Islamic scholar since that time had sided with enemies of resistance.

“Such widespread change in his position cannot be delineated in terms of few words and sentences,” highlighted Sunni Imam of Al-Quds Mosque in Sidon adding various meetings with religious elites in attendance should be mounted and it would be incumbent upon clerics having no tie with government or political parties to sit at talks with this connection.

“One of the main reason sits behind such decision is Muslims Brotherhood had its stamp on him,” said the cleric spotlighting the recent schemes hatched with this regard and the telling role of SheikhYusuf al-Qaradawi in forwarding them.

In his line, “the Egyptian Islamic scholar upon the impact of Wahhabism has forwarded the machinations concocted against Syria.”

Reasoning out the standing setbacks hang on rapprochement and according to Sheikh Maher Hammoud “Shiites, Sunnis, and the whole Islamic Ummah are responsible and in turn benefit from unity among Islamic denominations.

The five-year-long war which has claimed over 260,000 lives so far and, “High price paid for the conflict between Shiite and Sunnis,” said the cleric stressing, “it is proven beyond a shadow of doubt the historical crisis were detrimental to both Shiites and Sunnis.”

“We expect activists and officials in the denominations rapprochement arena to accept each other’s takes, not to insult or plunge headline into extremist move which in turn led to war and showdowns,” concluded Sunni Imam of Al-Quds Mosque in Sidon (Lebanon).
