Senior Egyptian Qari Raqib Mustafa Qalwash Passes Away

Qalwash, a senior member of the Arab country’s Quran Reciters and Memorizers Association, had been suffering from an illness for a long time.

His funeral was held in his home village of Barma in Egypt’s Western province.

A memorial service will be held for the prominent Quranic figure tomorrow.

Born in 1939 into a Quranic family, Qalwash learned the entire Quran by heart in his early teenage years and started reciting the Quran in different places at the age of 16.

He became an official Qari of Egypt’s national radio and television at 24.

Qalwash travelled to different countries for Quran recitation. He was among the first Egyptian Qaris who visited Iran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

His recitations were warmly received by Iranians during his many visits.

He also has a very beautiful Adhan (call to prayers) recitation that is heard from mosques frequented by Shias.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also praised Master Qalwash’s beautiful Quran recitations.
