Egypt must revise relations with U.S. and Israel: Howeidy @H= ‘Iran-Egypt-Turkey triangle can bring stability in the region’

Tehran Times International Desk

CAIRO -- The leading Egyptian intellectual called on the Egypt’s interim government to seek more proximity with Iran and Turkey instead of following the directives prescribed by the United States and Israel.

Speaking with Iran’s Fars News agency in Cairo, Fahmy Howeidy said, “In order to create a free and democratic Egypt, the interim government should try to listen to the demands of the people and to keep more distance from the West and its offspring in the region, Israel.”

Warning about U.S. efforts to distort the popular Egyptian revolution, the top Egyptian thinker and writer said, “The formation of the triangle of power between Iran, Egypt and Turkey can pave the way for the realization of the unity and stability in the region which can consequently jeopardizes the interests of the western powers”.

Therefore, the U.S. and Israel are doing their utmost to prevent the establishment of such a regional alliance, Howeidy added.

Commenting on the current problematic situation of the country and the continuing wave of the protest against the interim government, Howeidy said: “the western powers are planning to hijack the revolution and the Egyptian nation must be totally aware of these conspiracies’.

“With the recent development in the Arab world, every one knows that there is no more room for the U.S. hegemony in the region and Washington’s futile efforts to support Israel will all go in vain.”

“Therefore, the interim government must try to revise its relations with the U.S. and Israel because it will guarantee the independence of the new Egypt”.
