(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Speaking at the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Sweden on Saturday in Tehran, President Rouhani said: "This visit is taking place in a time when the nuclear agreement has been reached and the sanctions have been lifted".
"Time is ripe for developing economic ties between the two countries more than before and, without a doubt, this visit can be a turning point in bilateral relations," he added.
Underscoring ample opportunities to develop Iran-Sweden ties, he said: "With regard to Sweden's experience in the field of nuclear power plants' security, as well as security equipment in power plants and waste management, this can be a field for cooperation between the two countries".
On cooperation between the two countries in the field of medicine and medical equipment, industries and modern technologies, transportation, environment, renewable energies, mining and information technology, he said: "Iran and Sweden can cooperate in these fields and Iran is ready to act as a regional hub in this regard".
"To be able to activate all potentials for cooperation, we need to develop and facilitate banking relations," said Rouhani underscoring banking and financial relations.
Dr Rouhani also said: "Iran and Europe can have extensive cooperation in the field of energy and we can facilitate the north-south path for Sweden, connecting Eastern Europe to the Oman Sea and Eastern Asia".
He referred to regional issues and Sweden's role as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, adding: "Today, the Middle East region is going through myriad issues and there are conflicts among countries. With regard to Sweden's viewpoints in the field of multilateralism and moderation, being a non-permanent member of the council, we hope that it can play a role in regional peace and stability".
"The nuclear agreement between Iran and the 6 world powers indicates that our country has clear stances in key international issues. It also proved that Iran's honesty, as well as the peacefulness of its nuclear activities," he continued saying.
Rouhani added: "The main aim of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional issues is establishing stability and security throughout the region and for its neighbouring countries. This is why we have rushed to help countries that have called for Iran's help in fighting terrorism".
Describing terrorism as the most important issue of the region, Dr Rouhani said: "The first step in combatting terrorism is eradicating its ideas and then we should help countries in which terrorists are active for them to be able to confront terrorism".
"The next step should be creating the opportunity for all ethnic groups to participate in the government of these countries," Dr Rouhani continued.
On Syria, he said: "Today, we all should contribute to the continuation of the cease-fire that has been established in Syria, negotiations between the opposition and the government of Syria, and confronting ISIS and al-Nusra Front terrorists".
He then went on to refer to the Yemen issue adding: "The situation of the people in Yemen is very dangerous and the entire world should help to establish a cease-fire and cessation of attacks, as well as Yemeni-Yemeni negotiations".
Describing the Zionist Regime's actions in the region as very provocative, he said: "Regarding Palestine, we should all understand the great responsibility that the actions and behaviour of the Zionist Regime is one of the main root causes of insecurity and tension in the region and the Middle East".
At the same meeting, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven said: "Today, we have come to Iran to carry our deep and inclusive negotiations aimed at developing bilateral ties and we are willing to deepen trade ties with Tehran to more than the pre-sanctions figures and, because of that, I have brought with me a relatively big economic and political delegation".
Stating that Sweden is willing to develop ties with Tehran in all fields, he said: "I have come to Tehran to form the base of closer relations".
On the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Prime Minister Löfven continued: "Full implementation of the JCPOA is a priority for Sweden and we support both sides' commitment to their promises".
"We have witnessed the consequences of terrorism in the region and we will continue efforts to combat and root out terrorism," he said
He added: "We consider Iran as a key role player in the region and we hope Iran's role in regional stability continues".
