Prominent Iraqi Qaris to Attend Quranic Programs in India

A number of eminent Qaris from Iraq will take part in Quran recitation sessions planned to be held in Kargil, north of India, later this month.

According to al-Kafeel website, they will be organized on March 31- April 5, as part of the 6th Amir al-Muminin (AS) religious and cultural festival.

Titled “Amir al-Muminin (AS), the First Worshipper and Most Pious among the Pious”, the festival marks the birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam.

The Astans (custodianships) of Imam Ali (AS), Imam Hussein (AS), Hazrat Abbas (AS), and Kadhimiya shrines hold the festival annually with the aim of promoting the culture and Seerah of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

It will also include book fairs, speeches, meetings with religious figures and competitions.

Last year, India’s eastern city of Calcutta hosted the 5th edition of the festival.
