TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has paid a visit to the families of two assassinated Iranian nuclear scientists.
Ayatollah Khamenei met the families of Dariush Rezaeinejad and Mustafa Ahmadi Roshan on Thursday night and offered his condolences to them.
The Leader praised the efforts made by the scientists, and pointed out that the enemy seeks to eliminate young Iranian scholars in order to block the unswerving progress of the Iranian nation.
Ayatollah said the young elite martyrs are a source of honor for the country as their martyrdom in the path of God will pave the ground for progress of Islam.
The Leader said, "The dear martyrs are worth to be honored for two reasons: Firstly, their scientific and research activities and their competence in handling sensitive and important works and secondly, the divine and spiritual characteristic of the young individuals, that is the reason for their martyrdom."
The Leader went on to say that with the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the enemies started to level big accusations against the Islamic Revolution, claiming the way to scientific progress of the country is blocked, while Iranian youth through their endeavors proved vice-versa.
On July 23, 2011 unidentified gunmen martyred the Iranian nuclear scientist Rezaeinejad outside his house.
Rezaeinejad and his wife were on their way to their child's kindergarten when they were approached by two men on a motorbike. The gunmen called him by name and shot Rezaeinejad, 35, in the neck when he turned around.
Similarly, another Iranian scientist, Ahmadi-Roshan, was martyred on January 11 after an unknown motorcyclist attached a magnetic bomb to his car near a college building of Allameh Tabatabaei University in Tehran.
Ahmadi Roshan was a chemical engineering graduate of the prominent Sharif University of Technology and served as the deputy director of marketing at Iran's Natanz nuclear facility.
The terrorist attack came as Iran had reached an agreement with the P5+1 -- Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany -- to hold negotiations in Turkey.
On Thursday, the Iranian deputy ambassador to the UN said terrorists who recently assassinated an Iranian nuclear scientist may have obtained intelligence leaked from UN agencies.
“There is high suspicion that … terrorist circles used the intelligence obtained from UN bodies, including the sanctions list of the Security Council and interviews carried out by the (International Atomic Energy Agency) IAEA with our nuclear scientists, to identify and carry out their malicious acts,” Eshaq Al-e-Habib told a UN meeting.
The Iranian envoy said that slain nuclear scientist Ahmadi Roshan had recently met with IAEA inspectors, a fact that indicates that “these UN agencies may have played a role in leaking information on Iran's nuclear facilities and scientist”.
Meanwhile, a senior Iranian cleric said the assassination of scientists and young elite by the CIA and Mossad shows the desperation of arrogant powers because of Iran's progress and that they have reached a dead end.
“Those who claim to fight terrorism are themselves the leaders of terrorists and foster terrorists,” said Tehran's Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati.
He added that the enemies have been brought to their knees in a manner that they have no choice but to resort to assassination and acts of terror.
“This is while they claimed they occupied Iraq and Afghanistan to fight terrorism,” Ayatollah Jannati added.
The senior cleric stressed that the perpetrators of the assassination of scientists Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan must be brought to justice.
“This assassination was planned and carried out with the help of the CIA and Mossad and shows that the global arrogance, led by the U.S. and the Zionist regime, has reached a dead end when it comes to the pious, determined and progressive Iranian nation,” he added.
Ayatollah Jannati emphasized that the assassination of Iranian scientists will not have the enemy's desired results as more young scientists will follow in the footsteps of Ahmadi Roshan.
