Today, the 28th of Safar is a day of double grief with a public holiday in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and with most people clad in black, while mourning ceremonies and mourning processions are underway in all towns, cities and villages.
It is the day of the passing away of the Almighty's Last Messenger to mankind, Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny). It is also the day on which the Prophet's elder grandson, Imam Hassan Mojtaba (peace upon him) was martyred through poisoning in 50 AH, on the 39th anniversary of the passing away of his grandfather.
This is a good opportunity to offer heartfelt condolences to all its readers on this doleful day.
