Tehran – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has pointed out that democracy doesn’t come out of the gun barrel of the US and its cohorts and they only want to impose poverty and humiliation upon nations.

According to IRIB World Service, in an address to inaugural ceremony of the International Meetings on Youths and Islamic Awakening, in Tehran on Sunday, President Ahmadinejad said that the US and Western regimes have sold over $60 billion worth of weapons to regional countries in the year 2011. Are these weapons used for peace, freedom and democracy or for massacre, war, and development of disputes?

President Ahmadinejad underlined that justice, freedom, and dignity are the rights of all nations, while adding that today the colonial powers are pursuing the same previous colonial goals under the motto of democracy and human rights.

He questioned the purpose behind provocation of wars, huge gaps among strata, endless arms race, and massacres, while pointing out that every year over $1200 billion are spent for production of weapons and it is perfectly clear that production of these weapons are for the slaughter of human beings.

In further remarks, President Ahmadinejad noted that the root cause of the contemporary world’s appalling conditions; widening gaps among strata of people; endless arms race; and never-ending massacres is the rule of unqualified, selfish, arrogant, and domineering figures. The president further underlined that throughout the course of history, the arrogant states didn’t allow the establishment of justice, freedom, love, and monotheism.

These international meetings kicked off in Tehran on Sunday in the presence of the Iranian president, secretary general of the Islamic Awakening International Assembly, a number of thinkers of the World of Islam, and over 1200 youths from Iran and 73 other countries.
