25th International islamic Unity Conference, held by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought opened by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinjad Wednesday morning.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, Head of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Mowlavi Es’hagh Madani, Deputy of the President in Sunni Affairs were among the major lecturers of the ceremony.
Iranian senior cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri referred to the ongoing revolutions in some Arab countries and said,” These days that waves of the Islamic Awakening has spread to the world, World of Islam has made a great move and the sleep of the enemies of Islam has turned into a nightmare.”
He expressed hope for honor and glory of the Muslim nations in the light of unity and that Muslim lands get rid of the arrogant powers, Zionists and their puppet agents.
Ayatollah Taskhiri also provided a background of the activities of the World Forum including, foundation of University of Islamic Denominations, publication of several magazines, holding hundreds of conferences in Iran as well as other countries and also launching Taghrib News Agency.
Mowlavi Es’hagh Madani, Deputy of the President in Sunni Affairs said, “If Islamic Awakening has realized, we should not think that it has been achieved easily.”
He said, “Blood of our martyrs is the price we have paid for the Islamic Awakening.” and added, “Once we maintain the path of Islamic Awakening, the blood of our youths and out martyrs would be compensated.”
Sunni cleric also said, “Islamic Republic of Iran has shown that Islam can prevail even in the era of atoms.” adding that, “Fortunately Islamic Republic of Iran has kept open the possibility for other countries to follow its path.”
The three-day event will discuss an Evaluation of the Forum's Twenty-Year Performance Record and also meeting Islamic Awakening.
Islamic Unity Conference is a three-day event held by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought concurrent with the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) dubbed as Islamic Unity Week.
