Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, received UN Special Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, both sides discussed the situation in Syria since the implementation of Annan's six-point plan kicked off.
Also, the meeting included tackling means to overcome obstacles that are hindering the UN plan, especially the augmenting terrorism in some Syrian regions.
On this level, President al-Assad indicated that armed terrorist groups increased their terrorist acts in various areas across Syria; committing murder, abducting Syrian citizens, committing robberies and harshly targeting public and private properties.
Furthermore, President al-Assad urged the countries that are financing, arming, and sponsoring the terrorist groups, to commit to Annan's plan and prove their political will to participate in halting terrorism in the country.
In this context, the Syrian President asserted that the success of Annan's plan depends on stopping weapon smuggling and curbing terrorism and the sides that support it.
For his part, the UN Special Envoy praised the Syrian government's positive cooperation and coordination with the international observers, to help fulfill their mission.
