The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, today hailed the status of women and the role played by them in the great Islamic movements, as “unparalleled and unique.”
He was addressing over a thousand and five hundred women activists from some 85 countries, including lady intellectuals, researchers and journalists, who have assembled in Tehran for World Conference on Women and Islamic Awakening.
According to IRIB, he referred to the outstanding precedent set by women in Iran during the crucial days of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and its aftermath, said continuation, strengthening and promotion of women's active presence in the Islamic Awakening movements sweeping the region, would undoubtedly be a booster for further success of Muslim countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei considered this great assembly in the Iranian capital of elite and intellectual ladies from almost half the world countries, as an excellent opportunity for better familiarity among Muslim women of various lands, saying: "This opportunity of better interaction at the meeting should be seized upon as a factor for long-lasting and more effective works to help restore the real identity and personality of Muslim women.
He referred to the more than a century of intricate ploys by the West to isolate Muslim women from their real Islamic identity, saying that selfless efforts by female intellectuals of the Muslim world to revive this proper identity is in fact the most priceless service for the Islamic Ummah. Ayatollah Khamenei added that this movement, in part, will profoundly affect the Islamic Awakening currents, in addition to reviving the real dignity and glory of the Ummah.
He censured the West for its insulting views toward women, saying that in the western society, women are looked upon as mere means of pleasure and enjoyment for men under cover of the ill-defined word 'freedom', which along with such terms as human rights and democracy, is a handy tool for military deployment, invasions, massacres and looting of world nations through different ways.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, expounding the standpoint of Islam toward women as in total contrast with that of the West, said Islam considers women as persons with the highest dignity and a source of progress and perfection.
Meantime, the Leader cautioned that Global Arrogance, the US and the Zionist regime in particular, which have found themselves transfixed and shocked vis-à-vis the great Islamic Awakening movements, are feverishly trying to deviate these movements, while surfing on the waves in pursuit of their own vested interests.
He, however, reiterated that the spirit of resistance of the people and their ever-increasing presence on different scenes of the struggle, would guarantee victory over the arrogant forces, since their swords are blunt and ineffective when faced by the massive presence of the faithful people.
Ayatollah Khamenei, elaborating on the West's vain attempts to drive a wedge between the Islamic Republic and the helpless Palestinian people, made it clear that Iran’s Islamic Will, free from any divisive and trivial subject as Shiite-Sunni differences, have steadfastly stood besides all Muslim brothers.
