Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has emphasized the role played by Iran’s Navy in maintenance of peace and stability in the region, lauding the daily increase of the armed forces’ capabilities.
According to IRIB, addressing a group of commanders and officials of the Army’s naval forces in Tehran today, on the occasion of Navy Day, he dwelt on the lofty objectives of the Islamic Republic and its rapid progress from strength to strength, noting that a glance at the conditions in the region and the world, puts the stamp of approval on Iran’s superior position in different developments.
The Leader pointedly said that challenges posed to Iran are in part due to the successes attained by the Islamic Republic, adding: “When comparing the policies of Western regimes and Iran vis-à-vis the issues of the West Asian-North African region, one sees that the Islamic Republic has achieved a string of successes almost in line with its goals.”
As Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to Iran’s long coastline on the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, as its great national asset and called on the government and related officials to pay due attention to naval zones from the strategic point of view.
The Army’s Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, briefed the Leader on the navy’s latest achievements, as well as current and future plans for surface and submarine systems as well as Iran’s growing presence in international waters.
