Supreme Leader Meets with President of Burundi

Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met Wednesday morning with the Pierre Nkurunziza, the President of Burundi, and his accompanying delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the positive outlook of the Islamic Republic of Iran on African countries, stressing: "Iran welcomes the progress and development of African countries and their unity."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the hostile moves of a number of European countries and America to colonize African countries and instigate fitna in these countries, further reiterating: "I hope that Africa and Burundi will enjoy a better future and make progress on a daily basis."

His Eminence welcomed the idea of developing relations between Iran and Burundi, adding: "The African Union can become a center of authority for all African countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran supports developing more convergent policies by this union."

The President of Burundi pointed to the 28-year relations between Iran and Burundi and he said that the purpose of his trip to Tehran is to create more dynamism in the relations between the two countries.

The President of Burundi referred to the sufferings of African countries resulting from the colonialism of global powers in Africa, further adding: "African countries, including Burundi, are looking for a better future."
