the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has described claims by US officials about forming a coalition to fight ISIL militants as a disingenuous claim – a hollow claim – which is nothing more than empty words.
According to IRIB World Service, speaking on Monday as he was leaving a hospital in Tehran, the Leader said there is plenty of evidence which points to the disingenuous nature of this US claim, and the Leader pointed to contradictory statements and contradictory stances by US officials in relation to ISIL Takfiri militants. Commenting on a so-called invitation to Iran to join a US-Led coalition to fight ISIL militants, the Leader emphasized that ISIL’s defeat in Iraq has got nothing to do with the Americans and has everything to do with the determination of the Iraqi people, and the resolve of the Iraqi armed forces. The Leader said the Americans are aware of this, and so are ISIL militants.
In further remarks, The Leader elaborated further on America’s false claim about fighting ISIL Takfiri terrorists. The Leader pointedly added: “During those difficult days when ISIL terrorists attacked Iraq, the US ambassador to Iraq approached Iran’s ambassador and asked for an urgent meeting to be convened between Iranian and American officials to coordinate a joint response to ISIL militants”.
The Leader added: “I opposed such a meeting, Iran will not coordinate a joint response with the Americans, because the Americans are not genuine, they are dishonest, they have blood on their hands, and there is no way in which we can cooperate with the Americans on this issue”.
Turning to Syria and Iraq, the Leader recalled that the Americans had formed a coalition of sorts against the Syrian government, amid much media hype and fanfare, but that coalition achieved little and soon fell apart. The Leader pointedly added: “It will be the same with regards to Iraq”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed that the Iraqi army and the Iraqi people, will keep up their attacks against ISIL Takfiri militants. The Leader poignantly added: “In reality, the Americans are looking for an excuse to do in Syria, and in Iraq , what they have done for many years in Pakistan -- namely to carry out airstrikes and bombings without permission and liaison of the Pakistani government.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was discharged from a hospital in Tehran on Monday morning, exactly a week after undergoing a “routine operation” at that hospital last Monday.
The Leader also expressed his sincere appreciation and thanks to the specialists, doctors and nurses at the hospital, and to the many well-wishers who had visited him whilst he was recovering from surgery.
