Speaking to reporters on Friday, Rear-Admiral Ali Fadavi, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy, pointed to Iran’s support for the Syrian and Iraqi nations in their fight against terrorism and said the ideas emanating from Iran’s Islamic Revolution will rid Syria and Iraq of such terrorist groups as ISIL.
The commander emphasized Iran’s remarkable military might and said although enemies are merely aware of a small portion of Iran’s defense capabilities, they have confessed to being unable to withstand the Islamic Republic’s military power.
The ISIL Takfiri terrorists, initially trained and sponsored by some regional and extra-regional countries to destabilize the Syrian government, control large parts of the northern Syrian territory. ISIL sent its terrorists into Iraq in June, quickly seizing vast expanse of land straddling the border between Iraq and Syria.
The ISIL terrorists have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds in Iraq and Syria. They have been committing heinous crimes in the areas they have taken over, including the mass execution of civilians as well as Iraqi and Syrian army troops and officers.
Iran has repeatedly provided support for the Iraqi and Syrian governments, including humanitarian aid and consultation, in their campaign against the Takfiri militants and was the first country to provide military assistance to Iraqi Kurdish forces fighting ISIL.
