Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the enemies are trying to trigger infighting among Muslims as they are destroying Islamic countries.
"The aim of the enemies today is to set off a civil war among Muslims which they have unfortunately succeeded to some extent," the Leader said Tuesday on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) and his sixth Infallible successor Imam Jaf'er as-Sadeq (AS), Press TV reported.
"They are destroying countries one after another. They are destroying Syria, Yemen and Libya. They have Muslims in Bahrain under pressure," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Leader criticized Muslim silence in his address to a group of participants at an international conference on Islamic unity held in Tehran, Muslim ambassadors, and Iranian officials.
"In Nigeria, why is this level of tragedy being brought on that peaceful, pro-proximity and faithful sheikh? Why is the world of Islam silent?" Ayatollah Khamenei said, referring to Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky who is being held incommunicado in military detention.
The Leader said he was disappointed with Muslim politicians, calling on Islamic thinkers to help "set up a new Islamic civilization."
"Today, the Western civilization is revealing its contradictions. It is now Islam's turn and it is up to Muslims to mobilize their efforts and establish a new Islamic civilization.
"This address, however, is to Ulema and Islamic thinkers of the world who do not regard the West as their Qibla. I have not much hope in the world of Islam's politicians," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"The world of Islam, like the Prophet, must unleash a new spirit and a fresh environment and set up a new Islamic civilization," the Leader added.
