According to the country’s Foreign Minister, Iran has a strong will to expand cooperation with Syria in various fields and will continue to stand by the Syrian people and government.
Abbas Araqchi, in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Bassam Sabbagh after their meeting in Tehran, said that they had “very positive” talks about the Gaza-Lebanon war and the “strategic and strong” relations between the two countries.
He said: “We welcome the stability and unity of Syria and condemn any attempt to destabilize this country.”
Araqchi condemned Israel’s repeated aggressions against Syria and Lebanon, saying: “These aggressions demonstrate the hostile and expansionist nature of this regime.”
He called on the international community and the United Nations to condemn these aggressions and end their inaction.
Regarding the threats from Israel and the West against Iran, he emphasized that Iran has shown its determination against any threat, especially from Israel, and Iran reserves the right to respond to such aggression as part of its defense policy.
He said: I think Iran has proven its strategy to the Israeli regime and anyone who wants to threaten Iran, we will not allow any aggression against Iranian soil to go unanswered.
Araqchi noted: Iran makes decisions based on wisdom and careful consideration, not haste or emotional reactions.
He said: Iran has proven that it always makes wise decisions based on wisdom and insight, and we neither rush nor procrastinate, and we avoid emotional decisions and respond at the right time.
The United States was called upon to pursue maximum rationality
He said: The maximum pressure strategy by the United States has failed, which shows Iran's resistance.
The policy of pressure does not work, and we have shown in practice that when they adopted the strategy of maximum pressure, Iran offered maximum resistance and American officials admitted that their policy had failed.
He suggested that instead of maximum pressure, the Americans should adopt a policy of maximum rationality, and this would probably bring different results.
The Syrian Foreign Minister stated: “The escalation of Israeli tensions in the region is part of the American and Zionist project, which aims to redraw the map of this region, and Israel is a tool for this purpose.”
The Syrian Foreign Minister stressed the need to end the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights and reiterated his commitment to bilateral cooperation against terrorism.
Stating that some countries are taking destructive actions against the sovereignty of Syria, he expressed hope that deeper coordination will be established to counter these actions.
