Tens of thousands have stage a protest rally in Nigeria's second city Kano against an anti-Islam US-made film insulting Prophet Mohammad(PBUH).

The crowd of demonstrators stretched several kilometers through the city on Saturday with protesters shouting "death to America, death to Israel and death to the enemies of Islam".

"We are out today to express our rage and disapproval over this blasphemous film," said Muhammed Turi, a member of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and one of the protest leaders.

"This protest is also aimed at calling on the US government to put a halt to further blasphemy against Islam," he added.

The protests against the US-made blasphemous film have intensified in the Muslim and non-Muslim countries after French weekly Charlie Hebdo on September 19 published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in yet another proof of the West’s Islamophobia campaign.

On Thursday, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed “shock” and “dismay” at the sacrilegious cartoons, warning that the move would "further exacerbate the ongoing turmoil and violence created by the release of the anti-Islam film."

Demonstrations against the movie have been held across the Muslim world, with protesters in some countries marching on the US embassies and torching US flags.

Protesters demand that Washington apologize to the Muslim world over the film, which was reportedly financed by more than 100 Zionist Jews. They also call for the punishment of those behind the film.
