Matt Meyer, a political analyst from New York, said in an interview with Press TV that the American people along with world public were shocked by the “Israeli crimes” against Palestinians during Tel Aviv's recent brutal war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

During the latest war against the Gaza Strip in summer, Tel Aviv used advanced arms and warplanes to kill over 2,000 Palestinians.

According to the UN, over 80 percent of the Palestinian fatalities have been civilians, including more than 500 children.

Israel has launched three major military offensives against Gaza since 2008.

The commentator further stressed that Zionism was attempting to create a “racist entity” in the Middle East region.

The remarks come as experts say that Israel’s relentless onslaughts against Palestinians are aimed at ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign has taken some concrete steps to boycott Israeli institutions over the discriminatory treatment of Palestinians, Meyer said.

Reports say increasingly civil society organizations and universities around the world are implementing BDS, as do a number of states.

The European Union has also blocked all grants and funding to any Israeli entity based in the illegal settlements.

The American Studies Association has also announced a decision to boycott Israeli institutions and academics over the discriminatory treatment of Palestinians.

The commentator concluded that the human rights organizations and civil society groups are united in a common goal to promote a free Palestine.
