Mark Weber, director of the Institute for Historical Review from California, told Press TV that Washington and Tel Aviv are becoming increasingly scared of Iran’s special status and position in the world.
He further stressed that “a strong, stable and prosperous Iran would be the dilemma” for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his backers in Washington.
Commenting on the ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group, he stated that the administration of US President Barack Obama has no “alternative” except to reach an agreement with the Islamic Republic.
Weber also touched upon the nature of Iran’s nuclear energy program and said that the United States and its allies are well aware that Iran is pursuing its nuclear energy program solely for peaceful purposes.
Iran and the P5+1 group - the United States, France, Britain, China, Russia and Germany - are in talks to work out a final deal aimed at ending the longstanding dispute over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program.
The analyst expressed “cautious optimism” and said that the Western standoff over Iran’s nuclear energy program would be eventually resolved by lifting all the illegal sanctions against Iran.
Sources close to the Iranian negotiating team say the main stumbling block in the way of resolving the Western dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program remains to be the removal of all the bans imposed on the country.
Tehran wants the sanctions entirely lifted while Washington, under pressure from the pro-Israeli lobby, insists that at least the UN-imposed sanctions should remain in place.
