Lebanese politician lauds democratic elections in Iran
Leader of a Lebanese political party praised the recent democratic elections in Iran as a sign of circulation of power in the country, describing the Islamic Republic as the epitome of civilized and humanitarian Islamic governance.

According to Tasnim news agency, Chairman of the Lebanese Arab Struggle Movement Faysal Dawood said in a statement, after the Friday’s parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections in Iran: “By exercising their democratic right to vote, Iranians proved that the Islamic Republic is a forerunner of democracy.”

He said results of the votes indicate free circulation of power among different Iranian political parties and factions.

Iran provides a symbol of true Islam with values respecting justice, freedom and equality, Dawood, a former parliamentarian, stated.

He further touched on the participation of Iranians of different strata, particularly women, in the Friday’s elections, describing that as a sign of Iran’s rich history and civilization.

Countrywide elections were held in Iran on Friday, February 26. Almost 34 million of some 55 million eligible voters cast their ballots at around 53,000 polling stations across the country.

In a message on Sunday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei described as “glorious” the massive participation of the Iranian nation in the country’s elections.
