A US senator criticized the Pentagon for attacking civilians and called for a full investigation and accountability of the US Secretary of War for the missile attack on a wedding party in southern Iran.

In response to the US attack on a wedding party in Sirik in southern Iran, US Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen called for a full investigation and accountability for the perpetrators, criticizing US Secretary of War Pete Hexath's approach to civilian casualties.

Van Hollen wrote in a message on the social network X: "Hexath treats civilian casualties as a secondary issue, downplays the forces responsible for preventing these casualties, and boasts about the absence of 'stupid rules of engagement.'"

Referring to the US airstrike on the port city of Kohstak in Sirik County, Hormozgan Province, he added: "This attack must be fully investigated and those responsible must be held accountable. We must also end this disastrous war now."

The comments came after a US airstrike on a residential building where a wedding was being held in Kohstak left at least five dead and 67 injured.
