Martyrdom of Imam Jafar Sadiq (peace be upon him).

Jafar bin Muhammad known as Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS) (83-148 AH) is the sixth Imam of Twelver Shiites after his father Imam Baqir (AS). For 34 years (114 to 148 AH), he was in charge of the Shia Imamate, which was the same time as the caliphate of the last five Umayyad caliphs, that is, from Hisham bin Abdul Malik onwards, and the first two Abbasid caliphs, Safah and Mansoor Dewaniqi. Due to the weakness of the Umayyad government, Imam Sadiq (a.s.) had much more scientific activity than other Shiite imams. The number of his students and narrators is 4000 people. Most of the narrations of Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) are from Imam Sadiq (a.s.) and for this reason, the Imamiyyah Shia religion is also called the Jafari religion.

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) has a high position among Sunni jurisprudence leaders. Abu Hanifah and Malik bin Anas narrated from him. Abu Hanifa considered him the most learned person among Muslims.

This kind Imam was martyred on the 25th of Shawwal in the year 148 AH.
