On Sunday, a ceremony titled “Muharram and Ashura in the Mirror of the Documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs” was held at the Center for Political and International Studies of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event was attended by Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Amir-Khani, head of the National Library and Archives Organization of Iran, as well as senior officials and deputies from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony about negotiations, Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said:

«“Intermediaries are still making efforts to find ways to resume negotiations.”»

He added:

«“As far as we are concerned, there is no possibility of restarting negotiations until the violations of the memorandum of understanding by the United States come to an end and the United States compensates for what it has violated.”»

Araghchi also said that negotiations with Oman concern the establishment of a new maritime route in the Strait of Hormuz.

«“We are in the final stage. The old routes will be replaced with new ones. Specialists are currently working on the routes.”»

The Iranian foreign minister further clarified:

«“Of course, this does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz is being reopened. Such an agreement may be reached, but reopening the Strait of Hormuz is contingent on a number of conditions.”»
