Pilgrimage Etiquette

Spiritual Preparation:

The pilgrim must prepare his soul for this visit before dressing up.

Every action requires intention. For a pilgrimage, consider the intention of pleasing God Almighty, the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Amir al-Mu'minin, Fatima Zahra, and the Imams of Guidance (AS). Also, the narration states that you should never intend to go on pilgrimage for the sake of showing off.

The narrations emphasize that in order to visit the graves of the Imams, we must know the right of the Imam (AS). Knowing the right of the Imam means that the Imam is the proof of God for me, and every grace and mercy that comes to me is from the noble existence of that Imam, and obedience to him is obligatory and is considered obedience to God. (In the matter of obedience, one can refer to verse 59 of Surah An-Nisa.

When you intend to move, say “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful” and recite Surah Al-Qadr.

And in any situation, keep the remembrance of Allah on your tongue and do not be heedless of the remembrance of Allah.

The actions that are commanded in outward manners cause physical fitness, under which spiritual fitness is best achieved.
